The children at Currumbin Pines Early Learning Centre enjoy a rich and diverse curriculum based on the Reggio Emilia approach. We offer a high standard of care and learning for the children with a strong emphasis on the natural environment. Our dedicated team allow the children to lead the way with their interests as well as intentional teaching based on those interests with all rooms offering a large range of natural loose parts for children to extend on their development. Our centre is located on Currumbin Creek and all age groups from Babies to Kindergarten have incorporated this natural feature into their learning with regular visits to the foreshore where children can take a holistic approach to learning through exploration, paddling, and play.
The Kindergarten room offers an extra Bush/Beach Kindy program each week located off-site at a different section of Currumbin Creek with large mangrove trees, rocky slopes, and beach. With minimum educator involvement and materials on offer, the environment acts as the third teacher promoting children to find different forms of play to engage in. From climbing trees, building sand cities, fish traps, searching for insects or watching the tiny bubbles along the water’s edge for a glimpse of the crabs that live there, the sessions help the children develop and strengthen their self-confidence, communication, problem-solving, cooperation, team-building skills, and immune system. Our off-site program gives the children a sense of belonging to the community with involvement from the local environmental organisation Gecko House for nature-based discussions and activities.
Our passionate educators are dedicated to providing a holistic learning experience for all children who look forward to exploring the foreshore of the Creek either on or off-site.
