GeckoEd – Gecko Environmental Education

Gecko Environmental Education, known as GeckoEd, aims to reconnect and engage both adults and children with the natural environment through providing engaging and inspirational environmental education. Our highly praised courses achieve this through direct immersion with nature, fun interactive learning activities and promoting a sense of stewardship for the natural environment.

GeckoEd offers interactive field excursions and programs for schools and the community, using a head, heart, and hand approach. These are led by trained teachers and can be delivered either at your school, community group, club, or within the Gold Coast’s beautiful environs, such as the forests, mountains, rivers, estuaries and dunes.

We prefer to conduct programs and excursions in the natural environment, rather than the classroom to encourage connection with nature, however our teachers can deliver one of our programs at your school or community group’s premises.,

EcoDiscoverers School Holiday Programs

Are you looking for something active, loaded with educational fun and a little bit different for the children to enjoy during school holidays? Then look no further than GeckoEd’s super popular EcoDiscoverers’ school holiday program.

A lifelong interest in the amazing Gold Coast environment begins with an EcoDiscoverer adventure. Our programs are conducted by experienced educators with Blue Cards in a safe, nurturing environment with lots of fun, games, stories and hands-on activities.

EcoDiscoverers Kids’ After School Club

EcoDiscoverers Kid’s Club is an after-school club in Currumbin for children aged 5-9 years. The club runs on Friday afternoons during term time after school from 3.30pm till 5.30pm.

Each week we will focus on a different native animal, plant or habitat. There will be games, stories, excursions and competitions. All to reinforce the topic of the week!

The club connects children with nature and engages them with our native plants, animals and habitats and to learn how to look after the environment. All activities are hands-on and interactive and take place in a park, along the creek or in bushland.

Birthday Parties with a difference!

Let EcoDiscoverers make your child’s next birthday party an awesome adventure to share with their friends. Choose from a range of programs where they can learn, while exploring the secrets of Mother Nature.  Supervised by qualified, experienced GeckoEd staff and suitable for children 5 – 9 years.

We can visit you! Classroom Visits

Experienced educators can visit your class, club, staff meeting or group. Delivered content is linked to curricula and includes natures cycles, realtionships, habitats and connectivity.

You can visit us! School Excursions

Schools are encouraged to contact us for help in organising excursions to the estuary, mangroves, beach and catchments of Currumbin. Visits to other Gold coast eco systems and catchments can also be arranged.
